Guiding Principles

The foundational principles that drive and help guide our work are the following:

We’re conscious of power dynamics

We take a decolonial approach in everything we do. We are conscious of power dynamics. Everything we support is dictated on direct need or asks organizations or movements we support have.

Community or refugee-led organizations only

Because we believe in a decolonial approach to our work, we will only partner and support organizations and movements that fit under the umbrella of locally-led, community-led or refugee-led.

We believe in ‘holistic’ support

We believe in an approach to ‘support’ that goes beyond the 'fiscal’ and requires those seeking to empower decolonial, locally-led movement and change to deeply invest not only financially, but into the relational, communal, and even the mental/spiritual health of the advocates and organizations they stand in solidarity with.

A feminist approach

We believe women in leadership in every part of society brings our world closer to a more just and equal world. From the staff we hire at Locally Led to the organizations we seek to support, ensuring this cause is realized is highly prioritized when considering who is a part of the Locally Led family.

Continually re-evaluate

We believe in an organizational approach that is continually re-evaluated to ensure that inclusivity, sensitivity of the environments and walks of lives its staff comes from, as well as the voices and lived experiences, and skills of its staff are being utilized.

We are anti-racist.

We are anti-racist and believe being so requires us to go beyond a heart-felt belief that “all men are created equal” but rather requires us to do everything in our power to ensure racial justice, economic equity, and opportunity are being strived for in all we do. From how we treat and uplift each other internally, to the partnerships we make, and the advocacy campaigning we implement.
